Purpose of the Site
CalculatriceTaxes.ca provides a Canadian sales tax calculator (GST, QST, HST, PST and RST) along with explanatory pages. The site is offered free of charge, for informational and educational purposes only.
Its content does not constitute tax, accounting, legal or financial advice, and does not replace the services of a chartered professional accountant, a tax specialist or the relevant government agencies. No professional or contractual relationship is created by using the site.
Accuracy of Rates and Calculations
The rates used are checked against the Canada Revenue Agency, Revenu Québec and provincial finance ministries before publication, and reviewed when a change is announced. The results shown nonetheless remain estimates.
The calculator applies the general rate of the chosen province. In particular, it does not account for:
- zero-rated or exempt goods and services (basic groceries, prescription drugs, health services, financial services, residential rent);
- provincial rebates on certain goods, such as books or children's clothing;
- special rules for alcohol, tobacco, tourist accommodation, insurance premiums or used vehicles;
- interprovincial sales rules, exemptions specific to certain buyers, and input tax credits;
- a rate change that has been announced but not yet reflected on the site.
Amounts are rounded to the cent. Small rounding differences with a point-of-sale system or accounting software are normal and don't necessarily indicate an error.
No Warranty
The site and its content are provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied. No warranty is given as to the absolute accuracy, completeness or currency of the rates, calculations and explanations, or as to uninterrupted or error-free availability of the service.
It is your responsibility to verify any significant amount against official sources before using it in an invoice, a tax return, a contract or a business decision.
Limitation of Liability
To the extent permitted by law, the site's publisher cannot be held liable for any direct, indirect, incidental or consequential damages (including financial losses, penalties, interest, tax reassessments or loss of profits) resulting from the use of the site, the inability to use it, or an error or omission in its content. You use the site at your own risk.
No Government Affiliation
CalculatriceTaxes.ca is a private, independent site. It is not affiliated with, associated with or endorsed by the Canada Revenue Agency, Revenu Québec, or any provincial or territorial government. The names of these agencies are mentioned only as references to official sources.
Advertising and External Links
The site displays advertising provided by third-party networks and links to external sites, including government sites. The content of ads and third-party sites is outside our control and does not imply any endorsement on our part. How these third parties process data is described in the privacy policy.
Use of Content

Full or substantial reproduction of the content on another site is prohibited without written permission. Tax rates themselves are public data and are not claimed.
